Self Care

“Accept yourself. Love yourself as you are. Your finest work, your best movements, your joy, peace, and healing comes when you love yourself. You give a great gift to the world when you do that. You give others permission to do the same: to love themselves. Revel in self-love. Roll in it. Bask in it as you would sunshine.”

~ Melodie Beattie.

What do you do to care for yourself?

It is so important to care for yourself as "you can't pour from an empty cup". We often burn ourselves out through working late nights, busy social schedules or mentally tormenting ourselves through overthinking.

If we nurture and care for our own well being and growth, then we naturally radiate, attract positivity and can give/help others from a place of love. Allowing them to love themselves - wouldn't that be nice , seeing the ones you love radiate with self confidence, self integrity, kindness and compassion?

Maybe, it is a case of being so caught up in all of our thoughts/emotions/daily tasks that we forget to or don't make time for ourselves. Maybe we don't know how to look after ourselves?

I am definitely guilty of burning myself out and saying yes to EVERYTHING - except down time. Now I make time, like I would make time for a friend. I make a more conscious effort to look after myself, to stop burning myself out!

Here is my self care regime; one that I do daily and weekly. It helps me feel good from the inside, keeps me grounded/centered (less scattered- emotionally and physically) and provides me with the passion and energy for life!

- Daily -

Yoga//Meditation

To start my day with either yoga (20 - 60 minutes) or 10 minutes of meditation! Arriving into my day centered and setting the pretense of my day!

Journaling

At the end of the day, I take some down time with my bullet journal; to check in daily with myself, to track habits, my mood, to track my progress for monthly goals and to write one thing that I am grateful for! I love bullet journaling at the moment – it helps me wind down from a day and it has really helped me with time management (one thing that I am really aiming to be better at this year)!

- Weekly -

  • To go for a walk - get some fresh air!

  • Listen to a podcast - keep my brain cells engaged and nourished

  • To pamper myself - I can’t afford massages weekly so instead I do a self-massage session. To either foam roll or to do a relaxing slow yin yoga practice.

  • To hair and face mask - got to look after my skin and colourful hair!

Look after yourself as you would a loved one! What is your self-care regime??
