It's always this time of year that I get so overwhelmed (maybe it the speed of things picking back up after the lull of summer break). And what follows is an annual autumnal burnout 🥲🍁

Car breaking, hurting my back, and being ill means time off work and its the stress of getting last minute cover/no income/how long am I going to out for? Fellow self employed you feel me? 🥲

However, being an annual thing (unintentionally)... I do feel like I'm learning to accept and adjust each year. That this time of year, I am always most humbly reminded to slow the f!ck down, and just accept that letting go is part of the process. 💜🍁🙏

This is an old recording that I thought I would share. It feels so resonating at the moment to trust what is meant for us will come, and what isn't will shed. This time of year when Autumn arrives I am reminded of how I must let go to shed what isn't meant for me, to slow down and invite, create space for what is meant for me.

Take more moments to pause and ask myself is this aligning with my values, my intentions at this moment?

As we feel the passing of Summer, the arrival of Autumn as leaves are swirling around on the ground. The peak of yang energy has passed and we are invited to draw our energy back. Invite more yin energy. We are called back home to ourselves to nourish and repair. To find our centre, to soften the over-thinking, over-processing and over-action.

HOW TO SLOW DOWN?

I looove teaching seasonally and teaching yin yoga! It has become one of my favourite practices as it has (over the years) highlighted my tendencies to over do it, to push myself to burn out. It has taught me a lot about slowing down at my own pace, being is enough, letting go safely, where can I support myself, when am I pushing myself to hard when instead what I need is to let go, surrender. Yin yoga taught me how to slow down.

What does slowing down look like for you?

Over the years I have enjoyed exploring Reiki practices as a way of slowing down. More recently exploring breathwork.

I am soooo excited that Becky @theloudquiet & Gouri @lalkitherapy will be joining one- off exclusive at Surrender Sunday as guest teachers (see slides for specific date)

While the flat is accessible for wheelchair users, the bathrooms are not.

Somatic yoga is a combination of trauma sensitive yoga and somatic movement exercises (SME) which offer a slow, conscious, gentle practice that invites students to explore a deeper layer of awareness to the tension we hold in our bodies, (and perhaps the trauma we hold in our bodies).

These classes are offered for free or pay as you feel. Rosanne will be recording herself so that she can offer this class to be uploaded online. Those who sign up to this class will receive the class recording.

- Via Zoom - make sure your devices are charged or plugged in and have a strong internet connection, Camera is optional
- You will need a yoga/exercise mat or a rug to be comfortable lying down
- While session is scheduled for 45 mins, please leave time/space afterward to process the practice.

It had now become a habit to look over my month and reflect ✨️

July ...

💜Grateful for the opportunities and connections I have made over the years to make the Morocco retreat happen

✨️While I was hosting the retreat, I found myself aware of when I needed space, when I needed to ask for help, when I needed rest, when I was getting overwhelmed. This is new for me it's usually a case of continue on, piling feelings up and then overwhelmed where I do/say something I regret and then overthink it for hours afterwards

💜I feel everything I have been learning with my mentor/therapist/self reflection work is coming into my daily life. This was the smoothest a retreat have ever ran

✨️ Feeling proud of myself for running my first retreat abroad.

💜 Rest is so important and comes in different forms. This month, I needed mental, and social rest after being in a group for a week.

✨️So lovely to support and see friends glowing @mralimcb

💜Enjoyed getting back into baking, drawing pokemons 🤣 with my sibs and nearly finished crochet my top!

I keep finding myself bopping to 'My Little Soda Pop' or 'Golden' 🤣🤭

I want to normalise that when coming to a yoga or meditation class, it is normal (atleast for me) to still have thoughts in your mind even while the 'goal' is stillness or focus. Your minds job is to think, process, scan, be vigilant and if that's all you've known then that what's your brains gonna do 🤷‍♀️

I'll be honest that my practice is never completely still, or quiet, or 100 % focused however I am still present, feel connected, creative, clarity and calm. I have come to accept this over the years that this is what practice looks like for me and it's still blissful, a homecoming back to myself, a reset. For me, it is the curiosity and conscious awareness that I'm doing it, the spaces in-between my thoughts, when my mind is processing, creating, doing or being.

When teaching, I will be simultaneously suggesting cues, listening to the music, noticing what students are doing, taking a deep breath, thinking about what's coming next and thinking about what I want for dinner...

When I'm partaking in a class, I will be moving with breath, connecting to my body, creating flows in my mind, enjoying the teachers playlist and thinking about what the name of this song so I can add it to my playlist, feeling my feels, processing the day and usually feeling my most clear and creative.

This post was inspired from today's class while I was teaching !

Still feeling the highs, creative flows and abundance of gratitude, connection from such a lovely group and joy from the week. I found that teaching this week came from an overflowing of wisdom and from a deeper resource. And I'm human, so I am also feeling the physical and mental tiredness from hosting and being switched on all week 🤣

FOOOOOD is one of the things I love most about travelling, the flavours, spices, stories, creative way food being presented and how we connect over food!

Some of my favourite memories was us all at breakfast and dinner time around the table, when @amzil1mohamed would come out and we would be all 'woooooww' at what was for dinner 🤣🤣 and watching the sunset on the roof terrace! We had been truly spoilt with all the delicious flavours, and meals that we're prepared by chef Simo at @surfmaroc 🙌🙌🙌

We did a day trip out on to Souk El Had (LOOOVVE A MARKET TRIP!) and was grateful to have stumbled across spice stall that had everything we wanted! @i_mraaane told us his grandfather owned this stall and with Moroccan hospitality, he enthusiastically became our souk tour guide 🤣 he showed us around the rest of the Souk where we wanted to buy some other bits and bobs.

Inspired by a week filled with delicious aromas, I made a tagine flavoured Paella 🤷‍♀️ my favourite type of cooking... there's nothing in so make it up 🤣

I am feeling so lucky, aligned and very grateful. 🥰😍💜

It has been a long time dream to run my own yoga retreat abroad and I've learnt alot along the way (still learning, I'm sure there will be things to come). In the run up and in the midst of the stress of planning, I did forget that this was something I've always wanted to do, and intention that I set years ago (thanks for reminder @lalkitherapy )

Checked myself and I am reminded of one of the affirmations in Aura Awakening

"I live a life of meaning and joy"

And this morning I woke up feeling this, very grateful that this is where I am. In Morocco hosting a retreat, doing a job that I love! I am not a "lucky" person and things done come easy for me, I graft adapt and sometimes (used to be always) push myself too hard to inevitable burn out...

Today, I am reminded that I have created this moment, very very intentionally as I have listened,reflected, done the inner work, made the changes and learnt how to slow down and intentionally rest, not to always push. Here I am. Feeling aligned, lucky, present as I soak in all of this! 🥰💜✨️

It's actually sunny in Manchester 😍☀️

My yoga practice over 14 years has changed and evolved. At the beginning, I struggled to be still, and Ashtanga was incredible to channel excessive energy into focus, movement, strong poses and balances.

Teacher training I was at my peak of physical health and managed to do my first handstand!

I enjoyed moving with other yogis in class, sharing the practice of yoga, playing in acro yoga! Then starting to learn to slow down, understanding yoga in a deeper sense. I found yin yoga.

Yin yoga was what I've always needed really, to let go, slow down, do less and just be. This is what balances me. It has taught me so much about slowing down and loosening the grip of urgency.

Trauma informed yoga, gave me the context of how I approached yoga personally. It gave me education of how trauma impacts individuals, how that shows up, an understanding of myself deeper through my nervous system, how to guide myself back to safety and how I could create safer yoga spaces that teach people to feel and embodied sense of grounding, presence and safety

Now my yoga practice is sometimes on the mat, sometimes on a walk, sometimes a deep dive into deep conversation with a friend, sometimes in stillness for meditation, sometimes while im crocheting or gardening or sometimes while holding space for others in class. Its sometimes on a retreat ( ahhhh excited Morocco retreat in 2 weeks!!) 😍😍

It's mostly the way I approach the everyday, a way of life 💜🙏

May has been such a wholesome, magical month filled with abundance, connection, celebrations, and JOOOY 🥰🥰🥰

I'm a reflective person and have been enjoying capturing moments to make a month dump. I get even more deep and reflective around my birthday 🤣...so I am still lay in bed (normally up already) with bad PMS, I feel guilt free and soooooooo grateful for this past month 💜🙏 #sharingjoy #countingmyblessings❤️

💜 Alllll the yummy food and birthday cake 🤣 maybe 7 in total (5 for me, 2 for my sibs - we're nearly all May babies😅) 🤤😋 cannot believe the one @jence89 made and the matcha one @elsieli_ gifted by @ladymadeleine_uk

💜Seeing the next generation 😍 I adore the precious quality time with baby Aari @riyarajput (Little one fell asleep on me the other day 🥹😭). Also, I can't wait to welcome into the world, my baby nephew !!!

Inspired by a beautiful meditation that @lalkitherapy shared with me this week, I thought to record it for #mentalhealthawareness week.

Our wellbeing isn't just our physical health, it is holistic approach and #mentalhealthmatters💚. Years of yoga has taught me about a wholesome approaches that includes different types of rest, and understanding our Kosha (layers of our being). This means taking care of wellbeing includes (some examples):

Physical Health:
- How we move
- Exercise, yoga, pilates, stretching, walk
- What we eat & drink
- Taking care of our body through doing things that are resting (the different types of rest e.g. massage, going for a nature walk)
- Regulating our nervous system

Grateful 💜🥰

2 years ago, we got the keys to our (now) lovely, cosy home and while it was "suppose" to be a happy and celebratory time I was f!ck!ng drained, felt dreadful, depressed, scattered, was soooo under resourced that I wasn't me at all and I didn't feel the happiness of it all.

Moving and renovation are already unearthing/ungrounding enough. So with the instability of no physical safe space, alot going on at the time, so many moving parts, trying to build my business and therapy to process and upheaval all of it (same time, I am so grateful for the dig up of it all and knew it was what I needed, to learn how to take up space) - I hit another burn out but like I've never hit before 🥲 (no wonder... trying to juggle too much... again)

While in it, I couldn't see the end of it. 2 years later...

💜I am happy and so grateful to wake up in this home I created with my partner
💜Beautiful home, with all its things in its place
💜Days like today when the sun shines in, I watch the sunrise and glow through my orchids, the sunset on the balcony.
💜Love watching the phases of the Moon and the moon glow on evening like tonight where it'll be a full moon
💜My plants all thriving (for me always an indication of where I am mentally). Yaay to private balcony space!
💜Space (physically, emotionally, mentally) for me to take up space and develop personally
💜 Feeling of I am all good, my home space and relationships bossoming
💜The space to notice the little things
💜Feeling of home 🥰

I am sooo grateful for the beautiful souls who supported me throughout, helping me re-home rebuild, come back home to myself, create cosiness in spaces that felt foreign and empty to me; at the time myself and this flat.

It takes time, it takes courage and compassion and (it may not feel it right now but) it so worth it to be thriving and aware than run away, surviving in the dark. I am reminded of this today on this anniversary of how much has changed. I am reminded each time when I work with souls who feel safe enough to be vulnerable, in awe of their courage, honoured that they show up to authentically heal, to come back home to themselves 💜🙏

This is an appreciation post of how beautiful our home Mother Earth is and also a reminder to do our part 🌎🙏

It's been so nice returning to this lovely weather, back to what I love doing, sharing yoga practice, event/collabs, connecting with friends, new friends and communities; guiding people to come back home to themselves, to relax, regulate their nervous system and feel present.

Since being back, it has made me realise how much I scattered myself and how I intentionally want to try to run Goh Yoga and work more sustainably, where I'm not all steam ahead and then burn out. Where there is space for me to be me. It has been so nice to feel returning home in such a joyful way (rather than holiday blues). Giving myself the same spaces and nourishment I did while away, here in Manchester.

🌸Blocking out periods of time where I am off screen, not attending to work type tasks - need faff time
🌸Reconnecting back to the hobbies and things, lovely souls that bring joy to my life 🥰
🌸 I have noticed that I struggle to be still or to do nothing, reconneting back to crocheting has been ammmazing! It give me the space off screen, and I can rest while doing something (so then I'm not restless to do work stuff)
🌸Being more conscious about balance instead of extremes. Reflecting on; me - social time, moving on the go - chill time, work -life, where am I spending my energy & time)
🌸 To support Dan with lent, I chose to make sure my meals are made from scratch - which made me plan my food better and I feel much better energywise without eating processed, oven food or eating out too much (however I still ate out for events, birthdays and bakes and chocolate 🙃 balance 🤷‍♀️)

It's been so nice returning to this lovely weather, back to what I love doing, sharing yoga practice, event/collabs, connecting with friends, new friends and communities; guiding people to come back home to themselves, to relax, regulate their nervous system and feel present.
