IWD 2023

Happy International Women's Day! 💜💞♀

Today, I am celebrating being a woman and supporting and honouring all the women on this Earth! (Eventhough it's day 1 of my cycle and I'm curled up in my bed with cramp 😢. I am learning to listen to the slow part of my cycle. I celebrate that this cycle gives me the blessing to have babies, cleanse every month and to live cyclical as we're not supposed to go go go all the time!)

Today, as I come on my period, (day 1) on international women's day, it's made me reflect on what is 'being a woman', what kinda woman do I show up as, the women in this world. My thoughts...

💜♀ Women live cyclically (on average a 28 day cycle

💜♀As women we go through shared experience e.g menstruation, hormonally driven by different hormones in a cycle, giving birth...

💜♀I have a beautiful support network of women that are nurturing, supportive and empowering - So GRATEFUL!

💜♀I am thinking of the women who inspire me

💜♀What I have learnt to embrace about myself as a woman (e.g an Asian woman living in UK, a woman of colour, a woman on her natural cycles)

💜♀Trying to adopt a lifestyle that is cyclical 28 day cycle

💜♀What it means to have cycles ( The Circle of liiifeee 🎶 TUNE)

💜♀Recently learning about season of menstruation (Wintering, Autumn, Spring and Summer)

💜♀Since coming off contraception and getting to know my natural cycles I've learnt so much about my body. Noticing how towards my period - I need to slow down. (Definitely recommend this podcast about hormones, fasting, women's health by Dr Rangans Chaterjee & Dr Mindy Pelz)

💜♀Alot of cultures still shame women for menstruation - it's natural and a beautiful process that our bodies go through (my own culture included. It isn't allowed to talk 'girl things' in front of men. Although lol my brother stood no chance of being period ignorant as he grew up with all sisters! )
