Savasana All Daaaayyy...

Savasana all day long (and for most part my holiday weekend) 😂

It was such a nice treat to book a last minute holiday, and ACTUALLY REST. I find it so hard to rest (physically and mentally) unless I flop from exhaustion! This was the first holiday where I consciously decided to rest, I explored all 7 types of rest, I intentionally didn't fill my day up with back to back activities and site seeing, I scheduled space. We did see the amazing archaeological sites which were insane - I would definitely recommend - Paphos, Cyprus Archaeological site and the Tomb of the Kings! 😧😍

I am still learning... it was hard to calm the restlessness, the voice inside telling me I should make the most of the holiday, make the most of the sun, not long left, try to fit in and see everything, walk or drive everywhere - which I was so proud of myself as it was the first time I've driven abroad 😑 Because Dan forgot his driving license 🤦‍♀️! (Luckily it was the same side drive haha)

It was also the first time, I felt FOMO leaving the hotel 😂. It was absolutely beautiful, everything was provided for and to my surprise there were complimentary yoga classes, so I felt I was on a retreat! Again drawn to rest 🥰😂

Its a journey, consciously deciding to schedule in rest. It is something I'm working on and exploring (7 types of rest, tuning into the rest I need) to avoid the complete burn out of exhaustion. Not fun.

It feels nice to have that inside glow after nourishing self care and including myself in the equation, to feel resourced and myself again 💜 and also not feel the need for holiday after holiday 😂 #cantpourfromanemptycup

7 Types of Rest

These are the 7 types of rest:

  • Physical

  • Mental

  • Emotional

  • Social

  • Sensory

  • Creative

  • Spiritual

Since reading about the different types of rest which really resonated with me, it has made me reflect and enquire more about how I rest. I am learning more about conscious, intentional and scheduled rest as I often am restless and feel the need to fill my time with something which often leads to exhaustion or burn out... Even when I am resting or have rested, I sometimes feel depleted still. So it makes sense that there are different types of rest, different things that nourish us, different tanks to fill to feel 'full', resourced again.

I invite you to reflect...

💜 On these different types of rest, what practices could you offer yourself?

💜Have you heard of them before or are some new to you, some may invite curiosity to explore?

💜 Which types of these rests are you doing more of?

💜 Which type of rest are you doing less of or not at all?

💜 Which type of rest are you in need of right now?
