5 Week Course | Every Sunday | Rise Fitness Cheadle
This 5 week course is aimed to give an insight, a starting point to yoga or to reconnect with yoga fundamentals.
What is yoga? There are so many types of yoga, which one is for me? How does yoga differ from pilates? Are yoga and meditation related? Can I practise yoga if I am religious?
Just a few of many questions that you might have. Hopefully, through this course I can help answer your questions.
Yoga, for me has become a lifestyle where it has allowed me to find mental focus, body and self-awareness, relaxation on the mat and to translate these lessons off the mat too. In my opinion, all yoga is essentially the same. The root is the same, same principles, same basics, and same ultimate aim to unite the mind, body and spirit. Each yoga style approaches the practice from a different perspective, meeting students where they are at (this will hopefully make more sense during the course)
Course Details & What to Expect:
• 5 x 1 hr group sessions, every week. Mats provided.

In this course we will be going over the fundamentals from a predominantly Hatha and Yin Yoga based perspective.
Welcome to Yoga Basics Workshop, where I would like to emphasise that yoga is a personal, mindful practice led by the breath. The lessons that we learn in class, I hope that they translate into your daily lives.
Week 1: Yoga Introduction. The importance of breathing.
This first session will be introducing what Yoga practice is and the importance of the breath.
Week 2: Yoga Styles and Key Principles.
You will be invited to explore what different types of yoga styles there are and the key principles of yoga practice.
Week 3: Hatha Practice - Sun Salutations (Yang)
This week will explore movement with breath with common yoga poses and sequences such as sun salutations, downward dog, tree pose…
Week 4: Yin Practice - Mindful Awareness (Yin)
This week will invite you to practise mindfulness through a yin yoga practice
Week 5: Yin Yang Yoga
Integrating the fundamentals and principles to conclude the course with a Yin Yang Yoga practice.
